The farmhouse is situated against a mountain only 10 kilometers from Clarens in the eastern Free State, on route R711 towards Fouriesburg, just before Surrender Hill, and enjoys magnificent panoramic views of the mountain ranges towards Clarens, Fouriesburg, and Lesotho. Clarens itself can also be seen from the house.

Relaxing Breakaway
Enjoy the serenity of Thaba Lapeng and the magnificent views from your veranda or the top of the hill behind the house, the latter for a 360-degree clear view of the area, which includes the Maloti Mountains in Lesotho. The farm is situated next to a game farm and is also suitable for bird viewing.
Birdwatching
The entire venue may be booked out for special celebrations, i.e. family reunions or anniversaries, or to host small functions. We can accommodate up to 16 people – refer Accommodation tab for full detail.
The accommodation at Thaba Lapeng consists of 3 self-catering, open-plan chalets which are adjacent to the main house, as well as 2 rooms as part of the main house which provide basic accommodation.
The self-catering chalets each have a fully equipped kitchen with dining room and lounge, an en-suite bathroom fitted with a bath, shower, washbasin and toilet, and a veranda with a built-in braai. All linen and towels are provided, guests only need to bring their own food and toiletries.
The 2 rooms as part of the main house are each fitted with coffee and tea making facilities, with all linen and towels also being provided. Each room is equipped with an en-suite bathroom with shower, washbasin, and toilet and also has its own private entrance on the veranda. The rooms do not have any braai facilities.
Complimentary coffee, tea, milk, sugar, and rusks are available in the chalets as well as the rooms upon arrival.
All the chalets and rooms have heaters installed, with electric blankets fitted on the beds in the winter months.
Airport shuttle services are available by arrangement.

The rooms only have tea and coffee making facilities, with no access to any braai facilities – but you can dine at some of the best restaurants nearby.
Chalets
Open-Plan Self-Catering
The chalets are all fully self-catering on an open-plan basis (kitchen, lounge, dining room and sleeping area are all in one open plan, similar to a bachelor unit), with an en-suite bathroom fitted with a bath, shower, wash basin and toilet.
Braai
Each has a built-in braai on its own veranda. (Chalets only)
Fresh Linen & Towels
All linen and towels are provided in the chalets and rooms.
Two Plate Stove incl. Utensils
Each chalet also has a big fridge with freezer, two plate stove, microwave oven, kettle, toaster and all other necessary utensils.
Rooms
The 2 rooms provide basic accommodation only and are each equipped with an en-suite bathroom with a shower, wash basin and toilet, whilst all linen and towels are also provided. They also have their own private entrances on the veranda. The rooms are not self-catering and there are NO braai facilities.
Private Entrance
Complimentary coffee, tea, milk, sugar and rusks are provided in the chalets and rooms upon arrival, whilst the inventory of the rooms are topped up daily.
